Kambala Artwork Welcomes Passengers at Mangaluru International Airport
Mangaluru, Aug. 1: Travelers arriving at Mangaluru International Airport will now get a glimpse of coastal Karnataka's rich cultural heritage even before they step out of the terminal. A new Kambala-themed artwork has been unveiled on the ground floor of the airport's arrival terminal, showcasing one of Tulunadu's most celebrated traditional sports.
The installation is part of the airport's efforts to introduce domestic and international visitors to the unique traditions of the coastal region. It joins an existing Kambala artwork near the domestic baggage claim area, which has already become a popular attraction among passengers.
Earlier, the airport had also installed a large granite statue of a Yakshagana artist near the roundabout close to the departure terminal, highlighting another iconic art form of Tulunadu.
With the addition of the second Kambala artwork, passengers arriving in Mangaluru are welcomed with visual representations of the region's vibrant folk sports and performing arts from the moment they enter the airport.
According to a release issued by Mangaluru International Airport, these cultural installations have received widespread appreciation from both Indian and international travelers, who view them as a meaningful introduction to the heritage and identity of coastal Karnataka.
