Puttur, 24 August 2026: A rare Vedic gathering unfolded at Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple in Puttur on Sunday, as 163 Rudradhyayis came together for a Maharudra Parayana organised under the leadership of Veda Samvardhana Prathishtana, Puttur.

Programme was organised in response to the request of students and teachers of Arasinamakki Sri Shankara Deva Vidyagurukula. Interestingly, the event was planned within just a week and without large-scale public publicity. Despite this, the participation of 163 Rudradhyayis became one of the highlights of the programme.

Students from various Veda Patashalas, disciples of Naramburu Venkatesha Shastri, the Vedic students of Manjulagiri Venkataramana Bhatta from Bettampady–Panaje, disciples of Veda Samvardhana Prathishtana and senior Vedic scholars assembled at the temple for the Parayana.

Powerful and synchronised chanting of Sri Rudram created a spiritually charged atmosphere at the temple. Maharudra ritual was conducted under the Brahmatva of Sri Ve. Moo. Miththuru Srinivasa Bhatta and Sri Ve. Moo. Manjulagiri Venkataramana Bhatta. Programme included Mahanayasa, Sri Rudra Parayana, a special Homa and Mahapuja.

Event was conducted under the guidance and support of Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple President Panjigudda Eshwara Bhatta, Veda Samvardhana Prathishtana president M.T. Jayarama Bhatta, vice-president Mahadeva Shastri Manila and Perodi Udayakumar.

Gathering grew significantly after details of the programme began circulating through WhatsApp, Nama Kirtane and social media after the event commenced. Thousands of devotees subsequently arrived at the temple and participated in the religious service, leaving the temple premises packed with devotees.

Vedic Foundation’s Guidance, Temple Administration Support Event

Efforts and guidance of Veda Samvardhana Prathishtana, Puttur, under the honorary principalship of Ve. Moo. Badaja Jayarama Jois, played a key role in organising the Maharudra programme. Temple administration, under the leadership of Panjigudde Eshwara Bhat, made comprehensive arrangements for the event. Arasinamakki Shankara Deva Vidyagurukula also made a special contribution by offering ₹25,000 towards Annadana Seva.

Maharudra was organised during the ongoing renovation of Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple. Temple administrative trustee Panjigudda Eshwara Bhatta expressed his happiness over the conduct of the Vedic programme and separately congratulated those who contributed to its success.
