Puttur, 20 September 2026: Poet and saint Kanakadasa connected devotion with everyday life and linked life with the question of social justice, said Dr Dhananjaya Kumble, Coordinator of the Kanakadasa Research Centre at Mangaluru University.
He said removing ego and promoting social equality are central to Kanakadasa’s philosophy. He was speaking at a programme organised under the ‘Kanaka Tattva Chintana Pracharopanyasa’ series at the school auditorium in Patte, Badagannur, Puttur, on September 18. Programme was jointly organised by Mangaluru University’s Kanakadasa Adhyayana Peetha and Kanakadasa Research Centre, along with Sri Krishna Educational Institutions, Patte, Badagannur, Puttur.
Ramadhanya Charitre Gamaka
A Gamaka reading and interpretation of ‘Ramadhanya Charite’ was held as part of the programme. Gamaki Ramaprasad Kanchodu and artist Ganraja Kumble presented the Gamaka reading and interpretation.
A quiz was also organised for the school students. Programme was inaugurated by Ashwini Gopalakrishna, Co-Director of Dwaraka Pratishtana, Puttur.
Lecturer at Alva’s Pre-University College, Moodbidri, Ramaprasada Kanchodu, retired principal and artist Ganraja Kumble, Patte Educational Institutions Director G. Parameshwara Bhat, Institution Coordinator Vignesh Hiranya, high school headmistress Sumana Mataji and primary school headmaster Rajagopala N. were present.
Teacher Rajagopala N. welcomed the gathering. High school teacher Vishwanath Bolladi proposed the vote of thanks. Jyothi Kumari compered the programme.
