Puttur, 05 September 2026: Customers, farmers and self-help group members in Kumbra were given information on banking facilities, insurance, digital banking technologies, loan repayment and cybercrime prevention at a financial literacy workshop organised by the South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank (SCDCC Bank) on September 3.
Workshop was held at the Navodaya Raitha Sabha Bhavan in Kumbra in association with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Bengaluru.
Mala Mangaluru, Senior Bank Inspector of SCDCC Bank, inaugurated the programme and stressed the importance of financial literacy in strengthening individuals and supporting the development of financial institutions.
She urged customers to make proper use of the banking facilities available to them and repay loans on time, noting that responsible repayment also contributes to the development of the bank.
Lead Bank resource person Geetha explained the importance of financial literacy and responsible money management. She said people need to understand how to save, invest and spend their money wisely. She also provided information on various banking facilities and life insurance schemes.
Damodara K., Manager of the SCDCC Bank's Ishwaramangala Branch, spoke about the role of financial literacy in building a financially healthy society. He explained various bank schemes and facilities, new banking technologies and precautions against cybercrime.
Prakash Chandra Rai Kaikara, President of the Kumbra Primary Agricultural Credit Co-operative Society, who presided over the programme, said several schemes of the Central Co-operative Bank are already available to farmers through Primary Agricultural Credit Co-operative Societies. He urged farmers and customers to make use of the available schemes and facilities to improve their financial stability.
Kumbra Primary Agricultural Credit Co-operative Society CEO Bhavani B.R. was present on the dais. Programme began with a prayer by SCDCC Bank Gold Appraiser Padmanabha Acharya. SCDCC Bank Kumbra Branch Manager Vishwanath S. welcomed the gathering.
Loan Recovery Officer Adarsh, Nitya Nidhi Collector Dharnappa, Anil Kumar Rai and Preraki Harinakshi welcomed the guests. SCDCC Bank Kumbra Branch staff member Abhishek delivered the vote of thanks. LIC Chief Insurance Advisor Narayana Kukkuppuni compered the programme.
Suryanarayana Bhat, Vice-President of Kumbra Primary Agricultural Credit Co-operative Society, directors Vasantha Kumar, Mallika J., Amarnath Rai, Santhosh Alva and Satish Karkera, along with SCDCC Bank customers, Navodaya self-help group members and local residents attended the workshop.
