Gokarna, July 27: With just two days left for the start of the 33rd Annabrahma Chaturmasya, Dhanya Lakshmi Puja was performed at Sri Ramachandrapura Math, Ashoke, Gokarna, marking an important milestone in the preparations for the annual spiritual event.
Jagadguru Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Mahaswamiji offered special prayers to Dhanya Lakshmi, worshipping the grains, pulses and other food items lovingly contributed by devotees from across Karnataka.
The offerings were received through the Math's 11 mandals, affiliated organisations and thousands of disciple families, reflecting the collective participation of devotees in the upcoming Chaturmasya.
This year's Chaturmasya carries the theme "Annabrahma", focusing on creating awareness about healthy food habits, the spiritual importance of food and the scientific wisdom behind India's traditional eating practices.
The 33rd Chaturmasya will begin with Vyasa Puja on July 29 and continue till September 26 at the Ashoke campus in Gokarna.
During the two-month observance, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Mahaswamiji will deliver a series of talks on food and health, including the significance of mindful eating, the right time to eat, fasting, water intake, traditional utensils and the role of food in physical and spiritual well-being. Visitors will also be served meals prepared using traditional methods in keeping with the Annabrahma theme.
Among those present during the Dhanya Lakshmi Puja was Kumta MLA Dinakar Shetty, along with office-bearers of the Math and devotees from different parts of the state.
The annual Chaturmasya has become a unique platform where spiritual practices are combined with social awareness. This year's focus on food aims to encourage people to rediscover the value of traditional dietary practices and adopt healthier lifestyles.
The preparatory meeting was attended by Math Administrative Officer Santosh Hegde, Finance Head Ganesh J.L., Secretary K.P. Edappadi, Havyaka Mahamandal President Hariprasad Periyapa, Secretary Mahesh Chatnalli, Manjunath Suvarnagadde, Chaturmasya Chief Coordinator Chandan Shastri, and volunteers from different regions.
