The changes come as part of a statewide promotion and transfer order issued by the Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments (Muzrai Department), with immediate effect.
P. Jayamma, who has been serving as Assistant Commissioner of the Muzrai Department in Dakshina Kannada, has been promoted and posted as the Executive Officer of Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple in Udupi district. The appointment is considered significant as Kollur is one of South India's most revered pilgrimage centres, visited every year by thousands of devotees from Puttur, Dakshina Kannada and neighbouring Kerala.
Following her transfer, Prashanth Kumar Shetty has been appointed as the new Assistant Commissioner of the Muzrai Department, Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru. He will oversee the administration of temples and religious institutions coming under the department across the district.
The government has also announced other key postings. C.G. Krishna has been appointed Secretary of the Chamundeshwari Kshetra Development Authority, Mysuru, while S. Lakshmi Narayana has been posted as Executive Officer of the Srikanteshwara Swamy Temple in Nanjangud. M.J. Roopa, KAS, has been repatriated to her parent department.
The appointments are expected to have a direct impact on temple administration in Dakshina Kannada and at Kollur, a temple closely associated with devotees from the coastal region.
