Puttur, July 23: Hundreds of property owners in Vittla Town Panchayat who have been waiting for land conversion approvals may soon get relief after Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai took up the issue with the State Government.
Following the government's decision to bring Vittla Town Panchayat under the jurisdiction of the Puttur Urban Planning Authority, the processing of land conversion (conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural use) has come to a standstill. As a result, several applications that were already submitted have remained pending, leaving landowners unable to proceed with construction, housing projects and other planned developments.
Responding to concerns raised by residents, the MLA said he has submitted a representation to the concerned Minister and the department, requesting that pending land conversion applications be cleared until the government issues fresh guidelines under the new planning authority framework.
According to Ashok Kumar Rai, the Minister has responded positively and assured that necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the public does not face unnecessary hardship due to the administrative transition.
The issue has affected many families, landowners and small investors who have been waiting for approvals to build homes or develop their properties. Residents hope that an early decision from the government will help clear the backlog and restore normal processing of land conversion applications.
