Puttur, August 10, 2026: The Dakshina Kannada district unit of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) will hold a protest in Mangaluru on August 18, demanding action on various issues concerning workers.

Speaking at a press conference, BMS Dakshina Kannada district president Anil Kumar U said the protest will be held in front of Town Hall, Mangaluru, at 11 a.m. as part of a nationwide call for protests by the organisation.

He said workers are entitled to fair wages, job security, social security, pension benefits, healthcare and a safe working environment. Ensuring these rights and addressing workers’ concerns should be a priority for both the Central and State governments, he said.

Anil Kumar called for urgent measures to provide long-term solutions to workers’ problems rather than temporary relief. He also urged the governments to implement comprehensive policies that ensure fair wages, employment security and social protection for workers.

BMS Dakshina Kannada district organising secretary Vasanth Kumar Manihalla, senior leader B.K. Devappa Gowda, former president of the Puttur BMS Auto Rickshaw Drivers and Owners’ Association Rajesh K. Maril and president Hemanth S. were present at the press conference.
