Puttur, 23 September 2026: Three schoolgirls from Varnakuteera Kala Shikshana Samsthe at Kallare are preparing for a unique 30-hour blindfolded Sand Art challenge in Puttur.
Students will create Sand Art continuously while keeping their eyes covered. The attempt is aimed at creating a new record. Challenge will begin at 7 am on September 26 and continue for 30 hours until the afternoon of September 27.
Three students taking part are sixth-standard students Bhuvika R.P., Anshi Santhosh Kumar and Vishnna. Students plan to create around 400 Sand Art designs based on nearly 400 songs. Music will play continuously during the performance. Varnakuteera Kala Shikshana Samsthe coordinator Praveen Varnakuteera shared details of the programme at a press conference.
Record attempt will be observed by representatives associated with the record organisation. Manish Vaistovi, head of the Asian Golden Book of Records, is also expected to watch the programme, according to the organisers.
Programme will also have the presence of several public representatives and dignitaries, including MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, MLA Ashok Kumar Rai, MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur and Arun Kumar Puthila, founder of Puthila Parivara Seva Trust. Representatives and dignitaries associated with the local community are also expected to attend.
Previous Record Attempt
Latest challenge follows an earlier achievement by Varnakuteera student Shamik M.K. Shamik had created around 300 Sand Art designs continuously for 24 hours while blindfolded and accompanied by background singing. The achievement was recorded in the Asian Book of Records, according to the organisers. New attempt seeks to extend that achievement to 30 hours with three students participating together.
Two More Students to Attempt a Record
Two other students of the institution, Himanshu Krishna Ammannaya and Sohan, will also take part in a separate record attempt. They will create Sand Art continuously for more than 10 hours without blindfolds, according to the organisers.
30 Hours of Live Singing
Music will be an important part of the main challenge. Institution president Geethalakshmi Kedimaru and singer Anusha Ammannaya will provide continuous background singing for 30 hours. They are preparing around 400 songs for the programme. Parents, students and members of the institution were present at the press conference.
